Trademark and Brand Protection Strategy — Changes and Opportunities in the Cyberspace
|
In the past, there are 22 gTLD (generic Top Level Domains) such as .com, .net, .org etc. In June 2011, ICANN authorized the launch of the New gTLD Program. The program’s goals include enhancing competition and consumer choice, and enabling the benefits of innovation via the introduction of new gTLDs, including internationalized domain name (IDN). ICANN finally received 1,930 applications and the first batch of new gTLDs will launch to the market very soon. This will substantially change the landscape of the cyberspace. It will provide more choices not only for brand holders but also open doors to new business models which is named “Cyber-estate” for investors. How companies can manage the changes, protect their trademarks and brands, at the same time, creating opportunities? Please join us on 11 Oct to learn the latest updates and developments.
